Spencer, Spencer

I should title this post, the visit of Aunt Kathleen, Spencer, and Aunt Chelsea but since I didn't take a single picture of my beautiful sisters while they were here, I will devote this to Spencer who was the most important visitor anyways (just kidding Leen and Chels!).
We had a fun weekend in Bartlesville. The kids really enjoyed playing with and helping to take care of (read: hanging all over) Spencer. Especially Sabrina. She really wanted him to have his binky in his mouth at all times. We of course went to Aunt Jenny and Aunt Sarah's soccer game on Friday night and had fun on Saturday helping them get ready for Prom. Saturday night, Mike kept our kids and Spencer so we could have a girl's night. My cousin Nikki was also in town so Kathleen, Chelsea, Nikki, and I went out to dinner. When we got home Uncle Mike was thoroughly enjoying rocking Spencer in the rocking chair and he was very happy, so cute!
I really do feel bad about the lack of pictures, but here are some cute ones that I did take!

The perfect day

The Wednesday after Easter was a beautiful day. Mike let me sleep in a little later than usual that morning because I hadn't been feeling well the night before. While I was laying in bed, I hatched a plan to try and convince Mike to take the day off work because a)it was going to be a nice day, b)the kids and I were going to Bartlesville for the rest of the week and weekend, c)he was way ahead of the game at work for this month, and d)his Wednesday night class was cancelled so I knew we would get him for the whole day. Very convincing arguments, don't you think? And it worked! And I'm sure it will never happen again. It took me a while to convince him, but he finally consented and then suggested that we take the kids to the zoo. We had a great time. This was the first time that we had been to the zoo as a family.




After the zoo we headed home for the girls to take naps and Mike and Benson headed out to the garage to put up some new organizer stuff. We had dinner and then I got to go to Mutual by myself while Mike stayed home and put the kid's to bed. Since Mike has class on Wednesday night I usually have to take all 3 of them with me, which is a little stressful.

So there you have it, the perfect day!

Easter

This year it felt like we celebrated Easter all week long. We started off on Monday with a FHE lesson about why we really celebrate Easter. On Tuesday, we went to Barnes and Noble for their free story-time. After the story, craft, and cookies, they had a little Easter egg hunt in the children's section which was fun. On Wednesday we went to the library for story time and made paper sack bunny puppets. We took a break for a few days and then resumed on Saturday night with coloring our Easter eggs and an Easter Egg hunt on Sunday morning.


Grace was so excited to wear her new Easter dress, she begged to wear it every day that week. Here's some pictures of our cute kiddos in their new Easter clothes.

Instead of going to Bartlesville this year, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Jenny, and Aunt Sarah were nice enough to come to our church and sit with the kids so Mike and I could sing with the choir. Then they went back to our house and finished up Easter dinner while we stayed for the rest of our church. It's definitely a tighter squeeze eating all together at our house and we appreciate them humoring us.

FINALLY!!

Today we FINALLY had some beautiful spring weather. We were outside for several hours this afternoon. After riding bikes and playing soccer, the kids went on a bug hunt. Benson got a bug net, a bug house, and a magnifying glass for his birthday and has been dying to find some bugs to keep as pets. Today was the first day that we've actually seen bugs outside.

It was nice that they each got a piece of equipment for the hunt and there was NO fighting over who got what...amazing!

When that got boring they were pretending to fix their "car" which was actually the picnic table on the patio. They were laying down underneath it, using Benson's play tools. Benson kept asking the girls for the open-ended socket wrench.




To illustrate our frustration with the weather, here are the high temps for the next several days:
Thu - 82, Fri - 59, Sat - 70, Sun - 55 and RAIN

So embarassing...

Grace, Sabrina, and I try to walk to pick Benson up from school as much as possible to avoid the long carpool lines. One day recently, we were rushing to pick him up because we were running a little late. When I rounded the corner of the portables behind the school, Benson's teacher saw me and sent him outside to meet me so we were still some distance apart. As soon as Benson got a good look at me he stopped, slapped his little hands against his legs and said, "MOM, YOU'RE STILL WEARING YOUR PAJAMAS!!"

Wow...I'm already embarassing him.

In my defense, I was absolutely not wearing my pajamas. I was wearing jeans and one of Mike's t-shirts. We had just been at home all day and I was going for comfort. I suppose this confirms what my sisters have been telling me for a while, that I don't wear t-shirts and neither do my kids. They must be right because the one time I do, my kid thinks I'm still in my pajamas.
